Some communities are at much higher risk of having children experience maltreatment and enter foster care. Targeting support at these communities is a key element of the P4P model. This map contains the episodes of foster care for children born between 2001 and 2010. It shows areas where children entered foster care at high rates.

Size represents the absolute number of children born between 2000 and 2010 who entered foster care.
Color represents the entry rate relative to the average population through age 18 over the same period in a given census tract.

*In order to respect the privacy of children in foster care and their families, entry rates have been omitted for all census tracts with less than 13 entries.
Note: Data is shown at the center of each census tract and is not related to the location within the census tract of the children entering foster care.
